WATERBURY — Richard W. Adams Sr., 87, of Blush Hill Road, passed away in the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000. Born in Hartland on Dec. 27, 1912, he was the son of the late Walter and Betsy (Wright) Adams. June 28, 1940, he married the former Hazel Truax in Barre, Mass. Mrs. Adams passed away May 1, 1980. Mr. Adams attended schools in Randolph and was employed for 25 years in the machine tool industry, retiring from General Electric in 1978. Active in the Waterbury community, he served as a Scoutmaster for Troop 1 in the 1960s and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He volunteered as a driver for the Waterbury Ambulance Service following his retirement and was a former member of the Waterbury Fish and Game Club. He is survived by his children, Alice Adams of Waterbury and Richard W. Adams Jr. of Lacey, Washington; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Rachel Letourneau, Marion MacPhetres and Elizabeth Lang. Memorial services will be held in the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Friday at 2 p.m. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waterbury Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 95, Waterbury Center, Vt. 05677, or the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund, 98 Hospitality Drive, Barre, Vt. 05641.
