He was the son of William Burling Abbey and Katharine Eleanor Abbey, of 1606, Mifflin Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He lies buried in the Thelus Military Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, France in Section IV, Row E, Grave 9.
