Funeral services for J.R. Allison were held May 4, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. in the Rose Chapel with Tom Cooksey officiating. Interment was in the Sayre Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.

J.R., the son of Sybil and Bill Allison, was born January 22, 1925 in Sayre, OK and passed away May 1, 2001 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 75 years, three months and 20 days.

J.R. grew up in Sayre and later moved to Borger, TX where he worked for Phillips Petroleum. He also lived in Grants, NM while still working for Phillips and was president of the OCAW Union. He returned to the Texas Panhandle for a short time. On a trip to Sayre, he met Alta Lee Walters and they dated for several years. He moved back to Sayre in 1966 and later married Alta Lee on July 5, 1974. They continued to make their home in Sayre where J.R. worked for Northfork Electric Company until his retirement in 1990.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alta Lee, a daughter, Jeannie Harrison and a granddaughter, Mitzi Monique West.

He is survived by two daughters, Kirk Torres and husband, Paul, of Borger, TX and Sue Spitzer and husband, Ivan of Weatherford, OK; three grandsons, Brett, Bart and Bruce Spitzer; and three great grandchildren, Brendon, Destiny, Brittany.
