He lived with them several times in KS as well, arriving unannounced and staying 2 or 3 months and leaving again. His nephew, Leonard said he remembers his Uncle Chalmer as a pleasant man, who got along well with his sister in-law, Hazel. He always purchased books and school supplies for Leonard and his sister. Chalmer was not allowed by his father to attend school but very little, so he valued an education and wanted one for Eulalia and Leonard. The men heard of work at the mines in Utah, so the family moved to Dragerton, UT.

He had been a resident of Dragerton, Utah for about 18 months at the time of his death and had been working as a janitor for the mining company. He died of a cerbral hemorrhage at age 61 years, 4 months & 3 days.
