Angeline and Andy Brown applied for a marriage license at Paola, KS, in 1872, but it was never completed. probably because it required a witness to verify that they were unmarried and not related. Andy was still married to Sarah E. Brown in Miami Co. KS.
They then went to Cass Co. MO. and were married on May 17th, 1872. They immediatly left for Rooks Co. KS. where Andrew obtained a homestead. They lived in a dugout, with wide board eaves. A son was born to them. One day Andy came home from town and found the little dugout had burnt and his wife and child were not to be found.
No bones were found in the burnt debri, so she evidently left on foot with the child. At any rate she was never seen again.
