Nola Lee Brownfield was born June 24, 1927, in Leeton, a daughter of Oscar E. and Beulah Clevenger Jones. On Sept. 2, 1961, in Kansas City, she was married to John L. Brownfield, who died May 29, 1984. Mrs. Brownfield graduated from Smith-Cotton High School. She was a housewife for several years. She then was an assembler for Town and Country Shoes. She enjoyed reading, collecting dolls, working puzzles and being with family. Surviving are four sons, Alan Naylor, of Kansas City, Gary R. Naylor, of Osceola, Freddie Brownfield and Sherman Dale Brownfield, both of Sedalia; two daughters, Gladys Ridge, of Sedalia, and Rebecca Edwards, of Tipton; three sisters, Wanda Hampton and Ethel Bryant, both of Sedalia, and Kay Nickelson, of Dresden; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Smoky Jones; and a sister, Ada Hampton. Nola died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mary Biesemeyer officiating. Pallbearers were Jerry Jones, Eric Criner, Kevin Perkins, Tristan Neth, Brandon Bogan and Matt Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Layton "Butch" Hampton, Harry Layton Hampton, Bill Branstetter and Anthony Driskell. The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Regional Health Center for cancer research.
