THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, October 4, 1999, page 4B: 'Billy Joe Allred Sr., 72, was called to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Shupp officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 8, 1927, in the Adams community to George and Mable Rosson Allred. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Providence Baptist Church for 29 years, where he served as a deacon. After retiring from Sherwin-Williams Paint Co., Garland, in 1975, he worked for Highland Building Materials in Paris and continued his lifelong passion of homebuilding. He married Kathryn Merle Skidmore Sept. 2, 1949, in Paris.

Surviving are his wife, Katy Allred; three daughters and one son-in-law, Judy Puckett of Chandler, Ariz., Carolyn Jamar, and Jan and Neil Barnes of Paris; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Debbie Allred of Paris; two sisters, Mable Price and Sara Carpenter, both of Paris; and grandchildren, Jeremy Puckett of Rockwall, Aaron and Erica Barnes, Derek and Leah Allred, Laura Lynch, and Lindsey Jamar, all of Paris. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters, and one grandson, Casey Lane Jamar.

Pallbearers will be Fred Skidmore, Bill Coe, Lionel Getz, Travis Skidmore, Norris Ballard, Jimmy Lassiter, Clayton Skidmore, David Johnson, and Alton Cagle. Honorary bearers will be members of the Reed Bible Class of Providence Baptist Church.
