Uncle "L" as he was called to his many nieces and nephews was born in the Economy community, which is near Atkins, to the late Chesley and Pearl Burris Owens. His given name was Lewis Grady, but it was shorten to L.G.
He retired from ConAgra in 1983 and attended the Pentecostal church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Victoria Owens (Vicki). He is survived by three sons, Ernie Owens of Hector, Don Owens of Scottsville, Larry Owens of Russellville; a daughter, Betty Mills, of Atkins; a brother, James Owens of Dover; a sister Jo Powers of Dover; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Geraldine Hunnicutt of Atkins.
