My cousin, called Mickey, was the son of my uncle, Nelson Arnold and aunt, Frankie LEWIS Arnold.
Mickey was knocked by a train from the arms of his mother who was attempting to remove him from a 1940 Chevrolet sedan stalled on the Cotton Belt tracks at Brookland, Arkansas. He and his mother had been to the grocery store and were on the way home when the accident happened. He was hurled headfirst onto the rocks beside the railroad tracks and sustained a fractured skull. An ambulance rushed him to the hospital in Jonesboro. However, death occurred one hour and forty-five minutes later.
Four year old Mickey was survived by his mother, brother Joe Arnold, sister Joyce Arnold, and step-sister Harrelliette Bratton. He was also survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Arnold and Mr. Lee Lewis, all of West Plains, MO and his uncle and aunt, Bill and Audrey DUTY Arnold, of Jonesboro, AR and his aunt, Nadine ARNOLD May of Pottersville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father who was killed while crossing the Rhine River in Germany during World War II. My little cousin, Mickey, was very much loved and missed by his family and all who knew him.
