Singer, Song-writer. Born William Marvin Dees, he was probably best known for his collaboration with Roy Orbison on the hit song "Oh, Pretty Woman". Dees and Orbison wrote the song in about an hour and it remained number 1 on the charts for 3 weeks in 1964. This was quite a feat considering that they were competing with The Beatles and other British groups for chart dominance. Though he is not credited, Dee sang back-up harmonies with Orbison on the recording. Dee also co-wrote the song "It's Over" for Roy Orbison. He also wrote scores of songs that were recorded by the likes of Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn and Glen Campbell. The rock band Van Halen also had a hit with their own version of "Oh, Pretty Woman". When not writing or recording, Dee traveled the world entertaining concert goers with his easy going style and likability. During his career he accumulated quite a number of awards including gold and platinum records. The beautiful songs he leaves behind will be a lasting legacy.
