Obituary from the Alvarado Bulletin - August 2, 1912
Mr. T. M. Ballinger passed away Thursday night July 25, 1912, at his home west of Alvarado and was buried the following day at Glenwood Cemetery. Mr Ballinger was born in Morgan County, Alabama Feb. 16, 1842, being seventy years of age at the time of his death. He came to Texas in 1865 and settled near Jefferson. In 1870 he was married to Miss Liza Green in Harrison County. He moved to Johnson County in 1880 with his family and resided from that time until his death on his farm west of Alvarado. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Church for many years. He was a good citizen, quiet and unassuming in his demeanor, upright and honest in his dealings with his fellowman, his friends were only limited in number by the large circle of his acquaintanceship. He is survived by two sons, Thomas Murphy and James William Ballinger, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their loss. Funeral services were conducted at the grave by Rev. R.J. Smith of the Presbyterian Church.
