| Birth: | Jun. 5, 1747 Boston Suffolk County Massachusetts, USA | | Death: | 1824 Windham County Connecticut, USA | My great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother. The daughter of "Deacon" Joseph Otis and Elizabeth Little, she married Lt. Perrin Ross in May, 1768. In some records, her name is given as "Marcy."
They had six children, one of which was my gr-gr-gr-gr-great grandfather, John Ross. Mercy's mother, Elizabeth Little, was a great-great-granddaughter of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins, who came over on the Mayflower. Among John and Priscilla's descendants are the poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, John Adams, John Quincy Adams and Dan Quayle. There are connections by marriage to Franklin D., Eleanor and Theodore Roosevelt. Mercy's father, Deacon Joseph Otis was a first cousin of Daniel Boone.
Mercy's grandfather, David Little, was a direct descendant of yet another Mayflower passenger, Richard Warren.
Upon Perrin Ross' death at 30 in the 1778 Wyoming Valley Massacre (in which her brother, Jonathan Otis, was also killed), Mercy Otis Ross married Lt. Samuel Allen (b. 1743 in Pomfret, Connecticut) in March of 1782.
