DIMMITT - Bob Anthony, 70, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clint Young and Jason Stone officiating. Burial will be in Castro County Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Anthony was born March 17, 1936, in Dimmitt to C.W. and Alice Anthony. He lived in Dimmitt all his life and graduated from Texas Tech on the dean's list in 1958. He was a farmer and rancher in the Flagg community and then began working as an insurance agent with Castro County Farm Bureau, receiving many awards. He was very active in several youth programs such as 4-H, FFA and youth sports along with several others. He was a proud alumni of Texas Tech. He served on several boards in the Dimmitt community such as Castro County Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce and was the chairman of the Dimmitt Buyers Club. He was named the Honorary Chapter Farmer of FFA, was on the livestock judging team at Texas Tech and received the Father of the Year Award in Castro County in 1980.
Survivors include his wife, Kylene Anthony; four sons, Steve Anthony and wife Susan of Canyon, Mike Anthony and wife Liz of Hereford, Scott Gentry of Mesquite and Greg Gentry and wife Meghan of Littleton, Colo.; four daughters, Jackie Odom and husband Greg and Shelly Smith and husband Dwayne, all of Dimmitt, Pam Honea and husband Russell of Amarillo and Casey Raynor and husband Darrel of Austin; a sister, Helen Kuntz of Hereford; 18 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his father-in-law, Norman Hodges of Hereford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109 or Make-A-Wish Foundation, 411 S. Fillmore, Amarillo, TX 79101.
