Lt. Col Frank Hampton, CSA, son of Lieutenant General Wade Hampton, III & Ann Hampton, younger brother of General Wade Hampton, CSA, Hampton's Legion, 2nd Regiment, South Carolina Cavalry, the Richland Cavalry. Inscription of tombstone reads: Killed in battle in Virginia June 9, 1863. "All ye that are about him bemoan him and ye that honor his name say how is the strong staff broken or the beautiful rod." His regiment was organized August 22, 1862. He was killed at the cavalry battle of Brandy Station in Virginia.
