She traveled from China to the United States on the ship Mongolia, arriving in San Francisco on October 28, 1911. She was accompanied by her husband Frank, who married her while back in his ancestral village of Buck Shan.
Although her headstone says that she was from Buck Shan, she was most likely born in her ancestral village of Koon Tong, which was also located in Kung Sheung Do. It was the custom to record a husband's ancestral village on the headstone of his wife.
