Ron A. Byard, 57, of Dravosburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at his home. Born March 2, 1956, in McKeesport, he was the son of Gaye S. (MacArthur) Byard and the late Charles A. Byard Jr.

Ron served his country as a Marine in Okinowa during the Vietnam Conflict, and as a member of the Coast Guard. He was a past member of the Dravosburg American Legion. Ron was a former U.S. Government employee, working at Sandia Nuclear Facility in New Mexico. He loved all kinds of music. Ron was an optimistic man, spreading laughter and goodwill through his keen wit.

In addition to his mother, Ron is survived by his children, Amanda (Jared) Jacobs, Stacey Byard, Lexy Byard and Timmy Byard; grandson, James Jacobs; brother, Jay (Dana) Byard, of McKeesport; sister, Rhonda Foster, of Dravosburg; beloved aunt, Gayle Smith, of Dravosburg; beloved nieces, Christine Foster and Stefanie Foster; and cousins.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. Saturday at WILLIG FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICES. Inurnment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park.
