She was named Lottie Evangeline at birth, but through naturalization in 1954 legally changed her name to Evangeline Lottie. She must have learned bookkeeping skills from her father it became her vocation. She went back to high school in her late 20's to earn her diploma. Since night or adult school didn't exist in those days, she attended along with the high school kids. Because of this experience she always encouraged other young adults to finish school. She married later in life for those days, at the age of 30. At the age of 43 she found herself separated and pregnant. Although the marriage ended in divorce, her little girl brought years of joy into her life. She had courage, strength and faith, an inspiration to all around her.
Left to morn was her daughter Marilyn, and her brother Dr. John C. "Jack" Golden and his family, and her cousin Lorraine Haddock Jones, who was more like her little sister, since she was raised in their household.
