David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 29, 1965 in Phoenix, Arizona as part of recruit platoon 145 - the Arizona Platoon. At some point during recruit training he was transferred and eventually graduated from recruit training with a different platoon. David served 4 years in the Marine Corps and was released from Active Duty at the rank of Sergeant on 24 Jun 1969.
