WILLIAM J. BOYKIN, was born in Johnston County, North Carolina on December 21, 1921 to the late Joseph and Nover Boykin.
William enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1945.
William met and married Odessa Barnes on May 26, 1949. William relocated his family from Wilson North Carolina to New York City in 1957. William was a father of two children, the late William Jr. and Yvonne Hooks. Soon after arriving in New York, William worked as a Door-Man until he retired in 1996.
William was fondly known by his family and friends as "June"; "Small Man" or "Buddy Lil George". June was a man who loved life and loved to have a good time with family and friends. June will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him.
On Friday morning, January 11, 2013 at The Center For Nursing And Rehabilitation, God silently called William into His Heavenly Home.
William leaves to celebrate his life: his wife of 63 years, Odessa: one daughter; Yvonne Hooks: five brothers-in-law: three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
