Howard Taft Boykin, son of the late William T. and Cora Boykin, was born in Wilson, North Carolina on August 24, 1909. Howard was called into Eternal Rest on Monday, February 15, 1988. Howard attended Williamson High School in Lucama, North Carolina and worked as a Farmer. After completing High School, Howard united in Holy Matrimony to Ruth Barnes Boykin and was blessed with five children. In 1943 Howard moved his family to Baltimore, Maryland and was employed at the Maryland Dry-Dock as an Welder until becoming disabled in 1954. Howard accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Rocky Branch Christian Church. Howard divorced Ruth and later married the late Alice Sutton. One daughter, Edna Ruth preceded Howard in death. Howard was well-known in North, Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland. Howard closest friends whom he loved dearly were Madrie and Mary Lee Mitchell. Howard was a very friendly man and was loved by all who knew him. Howard will be sincerely missed by all. Howard leaves to mourn: ex-wife, Ruth Smith; three sons, William Howard Taft Boykin Jr., Willie Gray Boykin and James C. Boykin; two daughter, Cora Mae Cook and Helen Bazemore; four sisters, Ida Hart, Katie Wilder, Eula Renfrow, and Lillian Kent; ten brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a host nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
