Obit. of Edward H. Franks

Mr. Edward H. Franks, 85, of Canton, Mo., died Aug, 14, 2012, in the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown Mo.

Ed was born Apr. 12, 1927, in Colorado Springs, Colo., a son of G. Hendricks Franks and Esther Atkinson Franks. The family moved to Missouri in 1935. He married Pearl Gorrell in 1947. He later married Bettie Johnson Clark in LaGrange, Mo. on Aug. 4, 1978. She died Dec. 10, 2005.

Ed was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton, Mo. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Occupational Forces from 1945-1947. He was engaged in farming, worked at Lewis County Gas in Canton, and Pryor Trucking of Keokuk, Iowa. Ed enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and also attended Culver-Stockton College football games. He enjoyed golf and woodworking.

Survivors include two daughters, Michele (Brian) Munzlinger of Williamstown, Mo., and L. Renee Gorrell of Brentwood, Mo.; three step-daughters, Nancy (Gary) Scharfenberg of Medora, Ill.; Jackie (Jim) Parks of Brighton, Ill.; Kim (Jeff)Vinyard of Brighton, Ill.; one sister Jean (Bill) Young of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; one half-brother, Kellie Jo (Candy) Hawkins of Palmyra, Mo.; two grandchildren, Clint Munzlinger of Napolean, Mo., and Lea Munzlinger of Williamstown, Mo.; five step-grandchildren; Leo Vinyard, Brad (Aimee) Parks, Rodney (Kelly) Patterson, Greg (Jill) Patterson, Matthew Patterson and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and wife Bettie.

Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Olivia Earlywine officiating. Burial with military honors was in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton. Visitation was held Friday morning in the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Country Aire Retirement Estates, Otto Bruner Post #170 of the American Legion or to Forest Grove Cemetery Association.
