Victor A Pocock Sr, 62 died early today at his home. Although he had been in failing health since 1952, his death was unexpected. He had been employed in the tax division of Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, OK for 23 years.
Funeral services are incomplete. Services will be held in Graves Memorial Chapel at Caney with the Rev. Joe Brown in charge. Masonic graveside services will be conducted in the Fawn Creek Cemetery in rural Tyro.
Mr Pocock was born July 10, 1897 in Tyro, Kansas, to Charles H and Minnie Brown Pocock, the first baby born in Tyro after the towns incorporation. He attended Caney High School and was employed at the Caney post office during that time. He and Dora Ioerger were married July 14, 1918 in Independence, Kansas. She survives at the home. He was a World War I veteran. In 1921, he moved to Bartlesville and in 1929 to Madison, Kansas, returning to Tyro in 1936. He served on the Tyro school board for many years.
Surviving, in addition to the widow and his mother are three sons, Victor Jr., Tyro, T.Sqt Phillip, Frankfurt Germany and Fred, Bartlesville; two brothers, John of Oklahoma City and Ted of Corpus Christi, Texas, and five grandchildren.
