(* note * this was told to my mom, by their son Charlie, that at some point Samuel's parents or grandparents changed the spelling of their last name to reduce amount of hassle of having a German name in the US because of the war. I am assuming at one time, it had been SCHREINER.
(This is not my family so I am not researching it past Charlie's parents and siblings. Charlie married my great grandmother and raised her kids from a previous marriage)
Samuel A. Shriner was born in Maryland and married Annie L. on tombstone (on census is listed as Annie H.) (? unknown maiden name) but she was born in Maryland too. According to 1910 US Census for Trego county, they had at least 7 children living.
