According to Marjorie Berg the witnesses to the marriage of Emil Walther and
Angela Wankum were Otto Wankum and Beata Walther.
"Emil J. Walther, 76, St. Thomas, died Monday, November 8, 1976 at St. Mary's Health Center. He had entered the hospital earlier in the morning. Mr. Walther was born Oct. 5, 1900 at St. Thomas, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Massman Walther. He was married April 16, 1929, at St. Thomas to Angela Wankum, who survives at the home.
A life long St. Thomas resident, Mr. Walther attended St. Thomas parochial schools. As a young man he farmed but in 1941 he was appointed cashier and director of Meta State Bank, a position he held until his retirement in January 1962. Mr. Walther was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Other survivors include: A son, Thomas Walther of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Monat of St. Louis; three sisters - Sister Mary Vera of St. Louis; Mrs. Agatha Jurgensmeyer of Montrose and Miss Beatrice Walther of Foristel; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with burial in the parish cemetery. (Source: "Unterrified Democrat" - a mid Missouri newspaper, November 1976)
