ALGUIRE, Edith Phoebe (Tilton)
The Standard, Cornwall, ON - Friday, 18 March 1910

DEATH OF MRS. NELSON ALGUIRE
The funeral of the late Mrs. Nelson Alguire, whose death occurred at Cornwall Centre, on Friday, the 11th inst., [11 Mar 1910] took place on Sunday from her husband's residence to Woodlawn Cemetery and was one of the largest funerals ever seen in the community. Many sympathizing friends and neighbors from the surrounding country and from the town of Cornwall gathered to pay a last tribute of respect. The service was conducted by the Rev. Dr. Meyer of Moulinette, assisted at the grave by the Rev. S. Sheldon, of Cornwall. The late Mrs. Alguire, whose maiden name was Edith Phoebe Tilton, was a daughter of the late Edwin Tilton. She was born at Cornwall Centre and lived there all her life. She is survived by her husband and four children, one little boy having died eight years ago. The children are Gwendoline, Bryce, Mildred and Winnifred Edith. She also leaves four brothers and four sisters - Mrs. W. A. Ferguson, Menasha, Wisconsin; Mrs. James Martin, Mrs. W. A. Graham, Mrs. Robert Douglas, Albert, Alfred, Wesley and Allan Tilton. Beautiful floral tributes were placed on the coffin by sympathizing friends, among them being a wreath of roses from Mr. and Mrs. William Alguire, St. Catherines; calla lilies from Mrs. Harriett Alguire and Miss May Alguire, St. Catherines; carnations from Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Ferguson, Menasha, Wis.; wreath from the family. The pall-bearers were Messrs. John Fickes, Corrie Warner, Bernard Eastman, Warner Kirk, Geo. Eastman and James Tobin. [All neighbors. James Tobin was the cheesemaker at Cornwall Centre.] The late Mrs. Alguire was greatly devoted to her home and children and much sympathy is expressed for the husband and children in their sad bereavement.Alguire Services Held Yesterday
