UPDATED Tuesday: PARMA, Ohio -- A 45-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after her daughter was hit by a car door and died.
Kim Rudnay and her daughter, Meagan Skeens, 22, were seated in a car in the driveway of their two-family home on the 5600 block of Warwick Drive about 3 a.m. The two began to argue, according to Detective Thomas Connor.
Skeens had the passenger side door open when Rudnay put the car in reverse. The door hit Skeens and she fell to the ground.
The car finally came to rest in front of the house across the street. Rudnay was going so fast that her car left skid marks in the street, according to Connor.
When police arrived, they smelled alcohol on Rudnay's breath, Connor said. She failed the sobriety test. Police are waiting for the results of a blood test.
Skeens was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland with severe head trauma. She died from her injuries about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Rudnay was released Tuesday from the Cuyahoga County Jail after posting a $10,000. She is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and drunken driving. The case will be presented to the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
