Beatrice Belisle, 94, Williston, formerly of Columbus, died on Tuesday morning, July 26, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.

Her funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Williston. The Rev. Sue Seiffert officiated and interment took place at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Norde St. Olaf Cemetery, west of Larson. Following the burial, there was coffee and fellowship at Faith Lutheran Church, in Columbus.

Beatrice was born on Jan. 30, 1917, in Larson, the daughter of John and Julia (Stromme) Norby. She was raised on her family farm in Larson where she also attended school. At the tender age of 14, she assumed the motherly and household responsibilities for her family as her mother had been stricken with tuberculosis.

She was a dear sister to her five brothers and a great help to her father as she lovingly tended to her family in her mother's absence.

In 1938, she married Clarence Belisle in Noonan. They settled in Columbus, where they raised their daughters, LeAnn and Renea and started Clarence's welding and machine business.

They made many dear lifelong friends in Columbus where Beatrice was active in the ladies aid at Trinity Lutheran Church and worked as a clerk in Barduson's department store.

They moved to Williston in 1961 where Clarence's business continued to thrive as well as their ever-growing circle of friends and family.

Beatrice kept busy with bookkeeping for the family business and caring for what would be the first of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Beatrice continued with service to her church, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where she was a member.

Beatrice loved to cook, bake pies, make doughnuts as well as pickles and jams. She sent her wonderful baked goods to everyone in her family and to her many friends on birthdays and holidays — never missing an opportunity to show her love by wrapping her goodies in beautiful boxes with a little handwritten note tucked inside.

Beatrice leaves behind a legacy of tremendous love and devotion to her family and friends and, though our hearts are breaking, we know she's at peace and has been joyously reunited with her beloved Clarence.

Beatrice is survived by, two daughters, Renea and husband, Vern Kvernum, Williston, LeAnn, and husband, Carl Larsen, Ray; six grandchildren, Elgin Kvernum and wife, Peggy, Casper, Wyo., Darren Kvernum and wife, Kim, Williston, Jeffrey Kvernum, Williston, Stephanie Hefta, and husband, Troy, Fargo, DeMaris Gill, and husband, Terry, Pewaukee, Wis., Lisa Larsen, Ray; four brothers, Kenneth Norby, Crosby, Russell Norby, Austin, Texas, Van Norby, Crosby, Harold Norby, and wife, Marilyn, Port Aransas, Texas; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Julia; two brothers, Abner and Norman and one sister, Viola.
