HELEN J. (HASELBUSCH) ALLEN
East Biggs native Helen J, (Haselbusch) Allen died Tuesday May 14, 1985, at the Oroville Hospital. She was 77 years old.
Born Nov. 1, 1907, on the Haselbusch family ranch in East Biggs, she had been a school teacher for 35 years. For 23 years Mrs. Allen taught at the Bidwell Bar School. She also taught at the River School and retired several years ago after teaching at Biggs Elementary School.
Mrs. Allen attended and graduated from what is now California State University, Chico. She also farmed almonds and prunes on the family ranch.
A member of the California Retired Teachers Association, Mrs. Allen also was a 50-year member of Lyman Chapter in Biggs, Order of the Eastern Star. In addition, she was a member of Oroville's Monday Club and the Wyandotte Ladies' Club.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, Robert of Oroville; a son, Robert of Redding; a sister, Eloise Stevens of Chico and a brother, Roger Haselbusch of Redding.
Services for the family were held Thursday morning May 16, at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery under direction of Scheer Memorial Chapel of Oroville.
