Dr. James Leonard Blaylock was born on April 13th, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Claude and Georgia Wegenast Blaylock. He was united in marriage to Gwytha Dawn Cooper who preceded him in death on January 11th, 2014. He is survived by two daughters, Shawne Russom and husband Jeff of St. Louis, Missouri and Nicci Patrick and husband Brad of Oakland, TN, one sister, Patricia Majewski of Dublin, Ohio, three grandchildren, Cooper, Tori and Becca Patrick and Madison Russom. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Anita Cooper of London. Besides his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Claudette Tompkins.

He graduated from Cedarville College in 1968 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also earned the Master of Divinity and the Doctorate of Ministry degrees from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Jim was a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud Papa. His 40 year ministry was served in churches in Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky where he was pastor of Corinth Baptist for 18 years. It was a privilege for him to minister to his church members thru hospital visits, weddings, funerals and personal counseling. He led numerous mission trips within the United States and overseas.
