James Buchanan Borchers or Jim as he liked to be called was the youngest son of Christopher Conrad Borchers and Nancy Dingdore. James had four older brothers, George, John, Charles and William Henry. James had two sisters, Charlotte and Mary Ann.
James was born on December 6th, 1857. He was the son of a German immigrant. The family lived in Amanda, Fairfield, Ohio at the time of James birth and continued to live there for his early childhood years. Sometime between 1860 and 1870 the family moved. The 1860 Census still shows them living in Ohio. The 1870 census shows them living in Andrew County, Missouri which is where James spent his teenage and young adult years helping out on the family farm. James would follow in is father's footsteps and spent his life farming.
On December 9, 1889 he married Hattie Borchers at the Parsonage in Savannah, Missouri. Hattie was a Borchers as well but they were not related. Two children would come out of their union, Earl Conrad Borchers and Carol Ralph Borchers.
James died from Angina Picterin according to the death certificate which is a heart attack. He was diagnosed with this condition on Aug 18th and died on Dec 31, 1937. He was 80 years and 25 days old at his death. He died at his son, Earl's house on 2318 Circle Drive in St. Joseph, Mo
James is buried in Savannah Cemetery in Andrew county, Missouri, next to his wife, Hattie.
