Mrs. Inez I. Ekanger, 65, R.R. 6, Owen Center rd., descendant of a pioneer Owen Center family, died Saturday in Rockford Memorial hospital after a heart attack. She was stricken Saturday morning in her home.
A lifelong Owen Center community resident, Mrs. Ekanger was born Oct. 24, 1893, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Boughner. She was married to Andrew Ekanger in Owen Center Jan. 17, 1917.
She was a member of the Owen Center Methodist chruch, its women's society, and the Center grange.
Mrs. Ekanger was the great-granddaughter of William Steward, who came to Owen Center from Canada in 1846.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Holmes, R.R. 1, Rockton, and Mrs. Ruth Temple, R.R. 1, Winnebago; a sister Erma Boughner, Rockford; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Long-Klontz funeral home, 428 Park ave., with the Rev. Robert Elliott, pastor of Owen Center Church officiating. Burial will be in Owen Center cemetery.
Friends may call in the funeral home from 7 to 8 o'clock Monday night.
