Charles Archibald Banks -

There passed to a better land from his home Torbrook Mines on May 3rd, 1919,
in the closing hours of the week one who for three score and seven years has
lived with us and endeared himself to all who had the privilege of his
acquaintance. He was converted to God at about the age of twelve years
during one of those old time revivals and with a large number of converts
was baptized by the Rev. Willard G. Parker of sainted memory and united with
the Nictaux Baptist church of which he remained a very humble and faithful
member ever giving much attention to the Gospel, as well versed in the Bible
teaching and took much interest in the ministry of the word and in prayer
and social services wherever it was his privilege to meet with the people of
God. His prayers and willing testimonies will ever be remembered and be an
incentive for good. Mr. Banks had been in failing health for several years
until about one year ago he seemed to quite regain his old time vigor and
took delight in resuming his duties at church, on his farm and as a neighbor
until only a few weeks of heart trouble and a gradual sinking ended his
career. He was one of a family of 9 children 8 of whom predeceased him. He
had 8 children, all of whom survive him, Forest, Willie, Guilford of
Farmingham, Mass., Winslow at home, Mrs. Edward Payson, Mrs. Earl Burrows,
Newburyport, Mass., Mrs. Frank Jolly and Mrs. James Evans, Torbrook Mines.
He is also survived by his faithful wife with whom he shared life's joys and
sorrows for 46 years, all of whom are left to mourn the loss of an
affecionate husband and kind indulgent father. The funeral service took
place on Wednesday, May 7th and the burial on the same day in the Torbrook
Mines cemetery in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends
and in sure and certain hope of a glorious resurrection.
