Frank C. Rosa, Sr. Port Richey, Fl. - Frank C Rosa, Sr. of Port Richey Fl. and formerly of Newport, RI died peacefully with his family by his side on Wed. January 23, 2013 at HPH Hospice in New Port Richey, Fl. after a short illness. Born on May 16, 1942 in the village of Cedros on the island of Faial, Acores, Mr. Rosa was the son of the late Domingos Correia and Maria P. Da Rosa and the son-in-law of the late Frank P Mendes and Mary H Mendes. In 1959, Mr. Rosa immigrated to the United States with his parents where he called Newport, RI his home until his move to Port Richey, Fl. A long time employee with Hugo Key and Son of Newport, Mr. Rosa became Director of Grounds with Salve Regina University. During his 18 years at Salve Regina, he continued to beautify the grounds of the University Campus with his love for gardening and the outdoors. Upon his retirement in 1999, Mr. Rosa moved to Port Richey, Fl. Mr. Rosa leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Clara Mendes Rosa of Port Richey, his sons, Frank C. Rosa Jr. and his wife Ana Barcelos-Rosa of Jamestown RI, Joseph C. Rosa and his wife Melissa D. Rosa of Middletown RI and Paul C Rosa and his wife Veronica L. Rosa of Brookline, NH. Mr. Rosa leaves behind his grandchildren Cory, Ryan, Victoria, Nicole, Rudy and many nieces and nephews. A longtime member of Jesus Saviour Church, Mr. Rosa was a member of numerous civic organizations which included the Holy Ghost Feast of Jesus Saviour Church, the Holy Name Society, The Vasco Da Gama Holy Ghost Society of Newport, The Seven Castles Club, Life member of the Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity Club in East Providence, RI. In Port Richey, Fl. Mr. Rosa was a founding member of the Portuguese American Cultural Association where he was instrumental in the establishment of the club's first Holy Ghost Feast. He was accomplished in his charity work as an auctioneer for numerous Holy Ghost Feast Celebrations in various communities in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Florida and California. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Jesus Saviour Church in Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Rosa's memory to HPH Hospice Foundation, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, Fl. 34667.
