Miss Martha J. Crawford, 78, retired teacher, died at her home, 215 W. Market St. Wednesday noon. In failing health more than a year her condition as been serious six weeks. Death was due to senility.
Born near Cedarville October 11, 1859, the daughter of James H. and Matilda Patterson Crawford, she spent the greater part of her life in Greene County and taught in the Osborn, Cedarville and Jamestown schools before retiring about ten years ago. She was a member of the First M. E. Church and was a charter member of the Cedrine Club.
She is survived by a brother, D. L. Crawford, Xenia; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alice Crawford, Tulia, Tex., and Mrs. Cora Crawford, Bishop, Calif., seven nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Nagley Funeral Home Friday at 2:30 p.m. with burial in the Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
