Rasmus Knutson (Vier) was born Nov 22, 1897 in Riska, Norway to Knut Oyuvson Vier and his wife Karen Andersdtr.
Ramus lived and farmed in Hana, Norway on farm called Myrabradet.
On April 20, 1854, Ramus was united in marriage to Ane Kristine Torteinsdtr in Norway. Ten children were born to this union; three sons and seven daughters.
The name of Vier was not used in America. The family took the name of Knutson except for one son, Ramus, who took the name of Rasmussen.
They came to America (Chicago, Illinois) in 1854. Ramus became ill and was advised by his doctor to return to Norway which they did early fall of 1856. They then returned to America the second time in 1883 to Cambridge, Iowa to join the rest of his family. From Iowa, they moved to Adrian MN.
Rasmus died suddenly on March 24, 1898 at the age of 70 years, 3 months, 22 days in Adrian MN. Cause of death is listed as apoplexy with Dr M. Sullivan in attendance.
Ramus was putting his business matters in order before joining Ane, who was visiting their daughter, Christine Shevland, in Tacoma, WA.
Burial was in the Adrian Cemetery in Adrian MN. His grave is just to the right inside the cemetery gates. Unfortunately, the grave was only marked with a large rock which has been removed some time ago. The actual grave site of Ramus Knutson is unknown.
