Funeral services for Miriam Page, 84, 1034 10th St NW will be at 2pm Tuesday, June 11, 1985 in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Val Sauer will officiate. Visitation will be at the Shaw-Messer Funeral Chapel in Watertown SD.

Mrs. Page died June 7, 1985 in a Watertown hospital.Miriam Caroline Winkler was born Nov. 22, 1900 in rural Dell Rapids.

She attended a district school near the family farm home and later attended State Teachers College at Madison SD.

She married Leo E Page on June 15, 1921 at Watertown. She taught school in Germantown Township, and Codington County. Before moving to Watertown, in 1975, the Pages resided on a farm near Henry SD for 47 years. Mr. Page died in 1969.

She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Duane (Carol) Monteith of Brookings SD; Mrs. Keith (Donna Mae) Arbogast and Mrs. Earl (Leone) Olson of Watertown SD; Mrs. Joyce Pearson of Pierre SD; five sons: Glen of Seattle WA; Virgil of Colton, SD; Vern of Delores CO; Gene of Watertown SD and William (Billy) of Rapid City SD; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Lens of St Paul, MN; 32 grandchildren: 48 great-grandchildren: and four step great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Henning, Robert Kirby, Knud Borglum, John Babcock, Chuck Lanning and Everett Page. The soloist will be David Page, accompanied by Mrs. Warren Falk.

Mamie Winkler married Mahlon Carr in 1904. The true identify of Miriam's biological father is unknown. Miriam always considered Mahlon as her father.
