John Joseph Gabrielson was very proud of his Swedish heritage and liked being called "Swede". He was the middle of three children born to Nick and Ruth Gabrielson of Corcoran. He and his wife of 33 years added two children to the family.
He was a mechanic and jack-of-all-trades. He could fix your car, your fire engine, the diesel motor on your water pump, and then build you a cradle or rocking horse for your baby. He made butterflies and roosters out of metal and purses and belts out of leather.
Drafted during the Viet Nam era, John served in Korea with the US Army.
