DELTA - Mary P. Alexander, 79, a resident of Delta since 1968, died of an extended illness on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1994 in the Delta County Memorial Hospital.
Memorial Services in honor of Mrs. Alexander's life will be officiated by the Rev. John Miller on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. from the Mesa View Mortuary Chapel in Delta. The service will conclude at the chapel.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Mesa View Mortuary of Delta.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Alexander, may be made to the Delta County Memorial Hospital, 100 Stafford Lane, Delta, Colo. 81416, with the funds to be used to purchase a "day bed" for family members to use when staying overnight at the hospital.
Mary P. Pell, the daughter of Robert and Anna (Roberts) Pell, was born on November 16, 1914 in Joliet, Ill., where she spent her childhood, received her education, and grew to adulthood.
Miss Pell married John Healy Alexander on November 8, 1933 in Wheaton Township, Ill.
The Alexanders moved from Lockport, Ill., to Delta in 1968 where Mrs. Alexander, a homemaker, made her home until her death.
On August 19, 1989 she was preceded in death by her husband at Montrose.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by two sons: John H. Alexander Jr. and wife Sally of Jacksonville, Fla.; Michael Alexander of El Nacero, Calif.; a special nephew, Alan Troxel and wife Peggy, of Alexandria, Va.; four daughters: Marianne and husband Rich Hamrick of Cory; Joan and husband Tom Haller of Indian Wells, Calif.; Carol and husband Don Wicburg of Delta; Elizabeth and husband Jack Stucko of Lansing, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one brother, John Pell of Joliet, Ill., and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Alexander was also preceded in death by five sisters and brothers.
She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Delta, and a member of the church Altar Guild in her young years. She belonged to numerous PTA organizations and was a frequent Den Mother while raising her children.
Mrs. Alexander enjoyed her family, traveling, camping and baking pecan and peach pies. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, winning many awards at county fairs over the years.

Specifically: Cremated and their ashes spread in Delta/Montrose, CO area. There is a vase in the Romeoville, IL Alexander Cemetery.
