My name is Lynn Paul. I was Leon's 6th wife and his last wife. We were married just over 7 years. From June, 1987 to October, 1994. We learned he had cancer in February, 1991. He was not in good health for at least 6 months before. His life was cut much to short.
He wore many hats in his lifetime. From his first real job as fireman on the Rail Road to service station owner to insurance agent to his final roll as video rental store owner & operator.
I think the job he enjoyed the most and had the most fun being was a board member of the Memphis Flim Festival, which was a volunteer position. He loved all movies, cowboy movies being his favorite. Eddie Dean was his favorite cowboy from his childhood. His love for movies made him perfect for video rental. We had a big selection of all the good westerns.
He loved life and being with his family. His mom, brother, 3 sisters & daughter, Beckey Palmer. In the 7 years before his death, the most precious thing to him was his little grand daughter, Kristin Mayer. She called him Big Daddy. He really loved her so much. His little grand son Joey Palmer was still a baby when he passed away. They didn't have time together the way he did with Kristin.
As I remember him he was a really good business man who had a way with words. He could just twist you around his little finger with his charm. He was a morning person and got up singing on most mornings before he got sick.
I chose "Happy Trails" as the final song of his service. I think he would have liked it. We never missed the Happy Trails Theather with Roy & Dale on TV during our short 7 years together.
