PREVITI, ANTHONY R., 88 - of Linwood, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 6, 2008 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born in 1920 in Atlantic City and resided in Margate. He attended and graduated Atlantic City High in 1937 and then attended N.J. College of Commerce where he received an Associate Degree in Accounting.
He served in the US Navy as a pilot from 1942-1947 and then in the US Navy reserve from 1947-1949 and retired as a Lieutenant Commander.
After the Service, he joined his family businesses first at the Previti Brothers Terminal Market in Atlantic City and then Mac's Restaurant in Somers Point. He retired in 1986.
He continued his lifelong love of aviation by being a member of the Air Mates Flying Club in Pomona for over 20 years. As a young boy he would go to Bader Field in Atlantic City and wash planes or do odd jobs to earn money or preferably in hopes of getting an airplane ride. He also loved boating and fishing and was a life long NY Yankees fan.
He was a beloved husband and father survived by his wife of 55 years Elaine (nee Bjorge) and four children Anthony, his wife Patricia, Drew, Jamie Previti Lucia, her husband Bill, and Jeff Previti. He is also survived by his grandchildren Emily and Anna Previti, Andrea Lucia and Christopher and Lucas Previti. He is also survived by his brother Andrew Previti.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 11am at the Adams- Perfect Funeral Homes, 1650 New Rd, Northfield. Family and friends are invited to gather with the family from 10am until the time of the service .
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Anthony's memory to the United States Navy Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 123 Washington, DC 20004-2608.
