William was the son of Robert Wardlaw (b.1671 d.1730) and Jeanette Hutson (b.1673 d.1709).

William was about nine years old when his mother died in 1709.

Marriage record revealed William Wardlaw and Jane Harper married in 1728 in Augusta Co, Virginia.

William was about twenty-eight and Jane (1710-1762) was about eighteen when they married.

The (S.A.R.) Sons of American Revolution Membership Application revealed William was born in 1700. His father was Robert Wardlaw and he married Jane Harper.

They had been married about thirty-three years when William died in 1761.

Executors, Jeannet Wardlaw and John Wardlaw.
To wife, Jeannet and sons, John, James, Hugh, Joseph and William Wardlaw, he bequeathed the plantation. His daughter, Margaret and son, Robert were also mentioned in the will.

William's will went to probate on Oct 1, 1761 and was proven in May 18 1762.

William lived to about age 61.
