Obituary

Caton -- Philip B. Caton 73, of 818 Hill St., Phillipsburg, died Thursday, December 25, 1997, in Warren Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9am from the Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, 531 So. Main St., Phillipsburg. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am in the St Philip and St. James Catholic Church, 426 So. Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ. Call 2-3-pm and 7-9pm, Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St Philip and St. James Cemetery in Greenwich Township. The family requests memorials to the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad, 360 Prospect St., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 or the charity of your choice.

Ecolaire Welder

Philip B. Caton, 73, of 818 Hill St., Phillipsburg, died Thursday, Dec. 25, in Warren Hospital.

He was a welder for the Ecolaire Corp. in West Easton before retiring in 1986.

Born Nov. 23, 1924, in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Patrick and Margaret Walsh Caton.

He served in the Navy during World War II, with the rank of Seaman First Class.

He was a member of Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg.

He was a life member of Jersey Hose Fire Co., in Phillipsburg and Order of Fleas of Easton and Safety First Volunteer Fire Co. in West Easton.

His wife, the former Catherine McPeek, died earlier.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary, at home, and Phyllis Kranich of Phillipsburg; a brother, Edward of Spring Hill, Fla.; and two grandsons.

Two brothers, Thomas and Joseph, and five sisters, Margaret, Alice Lynch, Mary Smith, Helen Rumold and Sue DeSesso, died earlier.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from Doyle/Devlin Funderal Home, 531 S. Main St., Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the church, 426 S. Main St., Phillipsburg. Call 2 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be inn Sts. Philip and James Cemetery in Greenwich Township.
