George Brown, Jr., 76, lifetime resident of Ness County, passed away Saturday, November 28, of a heart attack while hunting.

He was born August 16, 1911, to George William Brown and Dora Maud Everhart. He was reared on the family farm in Danby Valley. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in October 1946 at McCracken, Kansas. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Ness City, Kansas. He faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher, board member and many other areas of the church for 41 years.

He had farmed all of his life and his love for the land was recognized by his achievement in Wildlife and Conservation programs from the Fish and Game Commission of Kansas. The hobbies he enjoyed included hunting, fishing and sports. He retired January 1, 1987 from the Ness County Highway Department. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. His greatest joys were little children and youth.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Dora of the home; one son Richard Brown and wife Carol of Inman; a daughter, Ann Chandley and husband John, of Lyons; four grandchildren: Richard Jones and wife Rose McCracken; Michelle Taylor and husband Dan of Holyrood; Shelly Drassen and husband Joe of Valley Center; and Gary Brown of Inman; five great-grandchildren: Crystal Ryan of McCracken; Trevor and Tiffany Taylor of Holyrood; Megan and Allison Drassen, Valley Center; one brother, Walter Brown of Great Bend and two sisters, Nellie Weeks of Ness City and Pearl Craig of Bazine; a host of other relatives and friends.

He will be remembered forever as a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.
