Joseph A. Bonnema "Bonks" age 22, of Griffith, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2002. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Bonnema of Griffith; father, Gale (Debbie) Bonnema of Cedar Lake; brother, Brian Bonnema at home; half brother, Chris Angell and half sister, Elaine Angell of Cedar Lake; grandmother, Philomena "Phyllis" Walkowiak of Hammond; grandfather, Burt Bonnema of Cedar Lake; also, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and all his special friends who he loved as family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday February 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond, with the Rev. Jack Winterlin officiating. Burial, Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with his family on Monday, February 25, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road, Highland.

Joe attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Hammond. He was employed at Asphalt Services of Griffith; graduate of Griffith High School, class of 1998. He was a proud Panther, loved to play football, was an outstanding defense lineman for the 1997 4A Griffith State Champs. He loved golf, his family and friends, music and his dog "Butch". A tragic automobile accident took his life. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Prayer services Monday afternoon at 4:15 p.m.
