Proud WW II Veteran of the US Navy Sea Guards. United States Navy Armed Guard units were established during World War II in an attempt to provide defensive firepower to merchant ships in convoy or while traveling alone. Armed Guard crews served on Allied merchant marine ships in every theatre of the war. This was done because of the constant danger from enemy submarines, surface raiders, fighter aircraft and bombers, and because of the shortage of Allied escort vessels necessary to provide the merchant vessels with adequate protection.

Visiting will be Tuesday & Wednesday 2-4:30 & 7-9 pm at the Overton Funeral Home, 172 Main St., Islip. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's, East Islip on Thursday at 9:45 AM. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Bay Shore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Care Network, Woodbury, NY 11797.
