Lucius B. Martin was born 1838, Toney Hill Bay, Barnwell County, South Carolina, the son of Capt. Stephen H. and Sarah (Touchstone) Martin. About 1843, he removed to Lowndes Co., GA along with his family, where he grew to manhood. When the War began, Lucius B. Martin joined Co. G, 26th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Regiment, on 21 Sept 1861, along with his brother McDuffie Martin and his nephew, Wm Columbus Martin.
L.B. Martin deployed to Virginia where the 26th GA fought under Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson. Lucius Martin was present for duty on the muster rolls of 28 Feb 1862. By April 1862, he was sick in the hospital in Charlottesville, VA. He died there on 20 April 1862 and is buried in the Confederate Cemetery at Scottsville, VA.
