Alvin Bellinger
Alvin (Al) Francis, son of Joseph T. and Laura B. Mayer Bellinger, was born near Haddam, Kan., Aug. 12, 1924 and died at the Lincoln General Hospital, Lincoln, Neb., June 5, 1968. He was 43 years, nine months and 23 days of age.
He grew to manhood on a farm near Haddam and graduated from Haddam high school in 1942. During WWII he served with the Merchant Marines.
On Jan. 4, 1951 he was married to Nila Jean Taylor of Haddam. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. During the first two years of their marriage they lived on a farm north of Haddam, moving to Wichita where he worked four years at Boeing Aircraft, then back to the farm north of Haddam. In 1960 he started to work for the Soil Conservation Service working in Hugoton for one hear then being transferred to Lincoln, Neb., where he worked as engineering technician for the Soil Mechanics Laboratory.
Mr. and Mrs. Bellinger were members of St. Marks Methodist Church in Lincoln, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife Nila, sons Danny Joe and Douglas Andrew, daughter Vickie Lynn of the home; mother, Mrs. Laura Bellinger; brother Charles; mother-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Taylor; brother-in-law Eldon; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held June 8 at Umberger Funeral Home in Lincoln, Neb., with Rev. Warren C. Schwartz officiating. Burial was at Lincoln Memorial Park.
