Mr. Clay attended school in Columbus, Ohio and Neds Fork, Ohio. He was a Senior Chief in The United States Navy for 43 years. After he served in the Navy, he was a citrus grower, merchant, and a landlord. He was a member of the Edge Memorial United Methodist Church in Groverland, Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Benson Clay; and two sisters, Louise Siedel and Lavetta Croy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gail England of Burnsville, NC and Kelly Stiefel of Little Rock, CA. Three sons, Kim Clay of Lebanon, MO, Kenny Todd and Kevin Todd of Groverland, Florida; five grandchildren Mitchell, Kimberly, Stephanie, Danny, and Savanna.
Funeral Services at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial in Myrtle Ridge Cemetery.
