William Luther Bateman, 73, 407 Mill Street, Elizabeth City, NC died Friday, March 13, 2009 at his residence. A native of Pasquotank County he was the son of the late Claude Bateman and Alma Berry Bateman and the husband of Florine Norfleet Bateman of the residence. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force after twenty-one years as an aviation mechanic, and he was a Methodist.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Cindy Sawyer of Elizabeth City, NC, Rosa Johnston of Atlanta, GA, and Michelle Bateman of Gates Co., NC; two brothers, William Claude Bateman and Jerry R. Bateman both of Elizabeth City, NC; two sisters, Dollie Trueblood of Elizabeth City, NC and Lucille Koval of St. Petersburg, FL; and two brothers, Claude Bateman, Jr., and Lloyd Russell Bateman both of Las Vegas, NV; twelve grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street.
