Frank P Morton was the son of Gilkey Morton and Sarah Slafter.

The end came peacefully at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday with companion and friends at the bedside.

Mr. Morton was a man well known in and around King City where he, and his family have lived near two score years, and where he, while in health, took an active interest in the afairs of not alone his home and individual interest, but those of the community and also public civic matters of country, state and nation. He was a great reader and a man well posted on general matters and the news of the day and passing events in which he ever was intereted. Mr Morton will be missed in the home and by many frieds whom he has made in this community where he spent the active days of his life journey. He was nearing the 66th birthday anniversary when the parting time came to lay down the cares of this life and enter into that beyond toward which all are journying.

The funeral services were held at the home in King City, corner of Vermont and Rhode Island streets, at 2:00 p. m., Thursday, October 15th, conduted by Rev. James Froman, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church here, and a long time friend of the deceased and family. The interment was in the King City cemetery.

Frank's wife, Oka Shout, was a daughter of James A. Shout, a Civil War veteran who served in Co. I, 191st and Co. G, 39th Regiments of the Pennsylvania Infantry, and Maria J. Alexander. Oka Shout was born in 1868 in Illinois and is recorded with her parents in the 1870 and 1880 Carroll County, Illinois censuses. Her 1890 Jackson County, Missouri marriage record states that she was a resident of Saline County, Kansas. Family information shows that her mother died in 1898. Oka's father died 6 Dec 1923 at the U. S. veterans' home near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Records show that his body was shipped to Geneva, Illinois for burial. Oka Morton resided in Los Angeles County, California in the 1930 and 1940 censuses and died there 23 Dec 1940. (California Death Index)

"J. A. Shout of this city has been appointed assistant gardener of the State Reform School, and Mrs. Shout assistant matron. Mr. Shout receives a salary of $300 per year, Mrs. Shout, $200, and both receive their board. Mr. Shout went to Topeka this morning to assume the duties of his office."

  "Mrs. Frank Morton left last week for Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to be with her father, J. A. Shout, who was very sick. Later reports are that the father passed away last week. Mrs. Morton has not yet returned. Many friends extend sympathy to Mrs. Morton in her bereavement."
